RITES OF PASSAGE

Rites of Passage is a prevention program that promotes positive youth development, promotes academic success, and utilizes evidence-based practices.  Groups are facilitated by "Life Coaches" who serve as a mentor to the student and provide support to the parents.  Case managers identify the needs of the student,  the parents, and other family members.  Finally, tutors provide on-site tutoring to the student to improve academic performance and prevent failure. 

Community Reconstruction homework assistance promotes academic achievement by providing a safe environment where students have access to homework assistance and the opportunity to participate in organized, educational and recreational activities. 

• Poor academic performance
• History of behavioral referrals/suspension
• Prior involvement with law enforcement
• Experimentation with substances
• Insufficient adult supervision during non-school hours
• Negative peer associations

Community Reconstruction utilizes a formal referral process to ensure students meet eligibility criteria. A referral form is required for each student.
